Oralia Balderrama Alaniz, a beacon of love and care in her community, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 86. Born on October 23, 1938, in Bigfoot, Texas, Oralia lived a life marked by devotion to her family.
Oralia was a woman whose warmth was felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband Sebastian S. Alaniz, her brother Rudolfo Balderrama, and her son Roland Alaniz. Her legacy continues through her sons, Jeff and Jerome Alaniz, her adoring grandchildren, Joseph Alaniz, Jennifer Yassa (married to David), and Sashah N. Alaniz, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Addison Alaniz and Cash Yassa. Oralia's memory will also be treasured by her siblings, Ofelia, Odelia, Ramiro, Ruben, Roger, Ray, and Olivia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
For many years, Oralia proudly ran a daycare from her home, where she touched the lives of countless children and their families with her nurturing spirit and kind heart. She was much more than a caregiver; she was a pillar of her community, a guiding light, and an honorary grandmother to many.
Oralia's interests extended beyond her work. She was an avid gardener, finding joy in the simple pleasure of tending to her plants and watching them flourish under her care. Her love for gardening was only surpassed by her love for her family. Oralia was a very caring and loving mother, whose greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones. Her home was often filled with laughter, the aroma of home-cooked meals, and the kind of warmth that only a mother's love can provide.
As we say goodbye to Oralia Balderrama Alaniz, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she left on the lives of those she touched. Her spirit, characterized by compassion and kindness, will continue to inspire and guide us. Oralia's life was a testament to the beauty of selfless love and the enduring bonds of family. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
