Dwayne Gibson Obituary
Dwayne Emanuel Gibson passed from this world on May 16, 2024.
He personified "perfect imperfections". "Perfectly imperfect" is a beautiful compliment, and it describes a person that is perfect in all aspects if they are themselves and do not try to be someone else. There is no better description for Dwayne.
He was born in Waynesville, NC on September 3, 1960 to Charles Elam Gibson Sr. (deceased) and Dorothy Mae Lenoir Gibson. He grew up in Franklin, NC, and graduated from Franklin High School. He attended Grambling State University before enlisting in the Navy and honorably serving for 4 years.
Dwayne was a great brother to Jackson, Charles Jr, Beverly, Brian, and Tracy. They fully understood that their brother's imperfection was perfection in its best form because there really is no such thing as perfect. There is only the best and this sibling group knew that people are at their best together. They were together in all the ways that mattered.
Dwayne was the father of 6 – Ayofemi, Erica, Michael, Kailynn, Chandler, and Carter; grandfather of 8 - Bobby, Ethan, Kamylle, Laniyah, Koda, Kenai, Denahi and Aubree; and great- grandfather to 1, Zaire. They would definitely attest to the fact that Dwayne's quirks and idiosyncrasies, the things that made him perfectly imperfect, contributed to his individuality and charm.
Dwayne had many interests. He loved fishing – always finding solace with a rod in his hands. He loved nature, gardening, and flowers – he filled his yard with them when he could. His dogs, though, were his passion – he loved every single one that he met. He was a true whisperer!
He loved life and family. Dwayne leaves behind a whole host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Each one knew that perfect imperfections were what made Dwayne human and beloved. They fully understood that he didn't need to be perfect to be worthy of their love and respect. They gave that love and respect freely and embraced all that made him unique and special.
Dwayne, you will be dearly missed. Rest!
Details for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Dwayne was always polite and referred to me as cuz. He was humorous at times and he loved his family and friends and there was nothing he wouldn't do for you if it was within his capabilities to do it. I Remember the time he caught me in Franklin late night in the 80's and said, "Boy, what no good are you up to way over here? Nothing righteous happens after 10 PM. Just don't go to jail because Mama's gonna give you one of her famous lectures when she sees you there." Rest easy Cuz
