Obituary published on Legacy.com by Viegut Funeral Home on Mar. 19, 2026.
Dwight Earl Johnson, of
Johnstown, CO went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 16, 2026 at the age of 97. Dwight loved JESUS with all of his heart and lived to please HIM. It was his desire that all of his family would know JESUS and one day join him in his new home in Heaven.
We invite you to celebrate Dwight's home-going with us today. If you have not seriously confessed Jesus as the Lord of your life, he would be delighted if you made that decision today. His faith in Jesus is what makes saying "See you later" so much easier. We will see him again.
Dwight was born January 14, 1929, in
Minneapolis, Minnesota to Clarence and Alice (Widboom) Johnson. While in college where he obtained his bachelors in education, he was called to serve his country in the armed forces for two years during the Korean War as a Corporal in the Army stationed in Japan.
Dwight was teaching in the Los Angeles school district at the time he met and married his wife, Karen. He married Karen (Blackwell) on June 28, 1965 in Los Angeles, California.
Dwight was a devoted husband to his wife, Karen, and a loving father to their four children. Jesus and his family were everything. He did various types of work in his life but his favorite was when he both designed and built two homes for us, one in
Scottsdale, AZ area and one in
Loveland, CO. It was a very adventurous time in our lives and one filled with miracle after miracle as God entered into every detail showing Himself strong and able to take care of His own. We were in the palms of His Hand. Isaiah 49:16a "See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;"
Resurrection Fellowship, now Rez.Church, was our church home for most of his last years, and Karen was a secretary in the Counseling Department for most of that time. Dwight loved his Christian TV programs when he was no longer able to leave the home.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Karen Johnson of Johnstown, and children – Dana of Loveland with his children/our grandchildren Taylor, Jocelyn, and Piper; David and his wife, Annie, of Loveland; Derek and his wife, Kerri, of Fort Collins, with their children/our grandchildren Katelyn and Zachary; and our son-in-law Clint Hartley and children, Hannah and Michaela (twins) and Nathaniel. Clint's wife, Lori/our daughter is already In Heaven and no doubt the first to hug him after Jesus.
Funeral services will be held on _________________ at Rez.Church in
Loveland, CO. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Dwight E. Johnson memorial fund in care of Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 N. Lincoln Ave.,
