Dwight C. Kauffman, age 82, of Fayetteville, PA passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Burnt Cabins, PA on July 28, 1943, he was the son of the late Charle E. and Evelyn G. Reel Kauffman.
Mr. Kauffman worked as a crane operator at the former Chambersburg Engineering Company until its closure; he then worked at the South Mountain Restoration Center from 2002 until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of the Red Star Hunting Camp.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Carol Weller Kauffman, whom he married on February 20, 1966; a son, Gary Kauffman (Tricia Leidig) of Mercersburg, PA; three grandchildren, Dylan Reed (Baileigh), Keirston Krocker, and Noah Kauffman; five great granddaughters; and a sister, Mary Gracey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelva in 1968, a twin brother, Dwayne; and brothers, Charlie and Robert Kauffman and Ronnie Reel; and sisters, Alfretta Disney, Dorothy Cox, and Lois Forsythe.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 1 PM at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 7-9 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
