Dwight "The Duff" C. Strong, age 69, of New London, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025. He was born in Neenah on May 19, 1955 to the late Duane and Doris (Luckjohn) Strong. After graduating from New London High School with the class of 1973, he began his career in the United States Air Force, where he was a Safety Advisor / Safety Inspector until 1993. While in the military, he graduated in 1982 from Grad Regis University in Denver, Colorado with a technical Management degree. He served at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs from 1979 until 1986. He also served at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska from 1986 until 1992. He then worked at the Alaskan Oil Fields from 1994 until 2014 as an Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Training Advisor for Major Oil Companies.
Duff was a certified Safety Professional, registered Environment Manager, registered Environment Professional, and a certified Environment Trainer. He served as a chairman of the Federal Safety & Health Council from 1990 until 1992. He also served as chairman of the Alaska Safety Advisory Committee appointed by Governor Walky Hickel.
Duff loved hunting, especially with his brothers and friends. He loved fishing. He loved his family, but most of all, he loved his country. He loved being outdoors. He loved a good joke, whether or not he was playing it on someone or not. He always knew how to make people laugh and also how to make people think, "Why do feet smell & noses run?" Duff was an exceptional human being and will be missed by so many.
Duff is survived by his brothers, Daniel (Lucia) Strong and Darrell (Celia) Strong; sister-in-law, Tracy Strong and many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Lancelot. He was proud to be called Uncle Duff.
Duff was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Doris, and his brother, Duane.
In honor of Dwight's service to his country, in the United States Air Force, Full Military Honors will be performed on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at The Water's Supperclub in New London, Wisconsin, beginning promptly at 1:00 p.m. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
