Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home - CentralEarl Burch of Central, SC, passed on August 16, 2025 surrounded by family. Earl was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Earl Burch, Sr. of Spartanburg, SC. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Earl Burch. Earl is survived by his wife Scooty and their children: Julia and husband Brian Seligson; Catherine and husband Carr Kaufmann; Christopher and wife Cariza Burch. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Rachel and husband Rafael Velasquez; Connor Smith; Antonio, Sophia and Bella Burch.
Earl earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Clemson University in 1966. He was a member of Blue Key, the Director of Tigerama in 1965, Treasurer of the Student Body and President of Kappa Sigma Nu. He earned a Master of Science in Industrial Management and a Doctorate in Engineering Management, both from Clemson University. Earl taught for 3 years in the School of Business at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. He was Professor Emeritus of Business Administration and Mathematical Sciences at Clemson University, Clemson, SC, where he taught for 30 years. Earl consulted with companies worldwide in the areas of Quality Management, Statistical Process Control and Six Sigma Methodology.
Earl was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Clemson, SC, and served on the Vestry and as Senior Warden multiple times. It was a great joy for him to teach the 3 and 4 year old Sunday School class for 35 years. Earl had a passion and commitment to the people of the Central Plateau in Haiti.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, of Clemson, SC, on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, starting at 2 PM. A reception will follow the service in the reception hall.
