E. Lucille "Lucy" Sensenig, 85, of Quarryville, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was the wife of the late George E. Sensenig, Sr., sharing 17 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2002.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Wilmer J. and Reba M. (Findley) Eckman.
Lucy grew up in Strasburg township and attended the Winter Hill School. She was employed by Lancaster General Hospital in Environmental Services, retiring with 19 years of service. For many years she raised her children and was known to "run a tight ship" and somehow know everything that her children did. Lucy enjoyed making peanut butter eggs and making hundreds of "the best" pumpkin pies.
She is survived by her children: Esther (Barry) Coe, of Quarryville, Patricia Tollinger, of Willow Street, Charles "Bud" (Lynn) Hess, Jr., of Pequea, Carl (Lynn) Hess, of New Providence, Holly Miller, of Elizabethtown, Fred (Brenda) Hess, of Quarryville, and Penny Wilson, of Lancaster; stepson, Tom (Michelle) Linkey, of Perryville, MD; stepdaughter, Jamie Jenkins, of Maryland; brother, Darwin (Dottie) Eckman, of Elizabethtown; sister, Janet Eshleman, of Strasburg; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Rineer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:30 PM on Thursday, May 8, at Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, 227 West 4th Street, Quarryville, PA 17566, with Reverend James Haun officiating. There will be a time of visitation at the funeral home from 6 PM – 7:30 PM.
Interment will be private.
