Estella Diane Taylor Butters
July 29, 1943 ~ May 19, 2022
OGDEN–Our wickedly funny, fierce, and feisty Estella Diane, 78, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022. A lady always knows when to leave. Diane was the heroine of her own story, bravely battling vascular dementia's ravages, especially during this last year. The pernicious disease could never diminish her beauty and bright light, but it certainly tried. Diane was born on July 29, 1943, in Ogden, Utah, to Arnold and Phyllis Bitton Taylor. She enjoyed a special bond with her older brother and two sisters, and they cherished the fun times had with cousins on their grandparents' farm in Plain City. A graduate of Ben Lomond High School, Diane excelled academically, socially, and as a cheerleader. She earned her Associate's Degree from Weber State College. While there, she was a cheerleader and a member of the Colleens and Otyokwa.
Diane married the love of her life, Kim David Butters, on September 3, 1965, in the Salt Lake Temple. During their 56 years together, they particularly enjoyed living in New York City and Brazil, eventually settling and raising their family in the South Ogden area. In the last week of her life, Diane stated that her most important contribution to the world was her three beautiful children.
Diane was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her compassionate and kind nature led her to volunteer at McKay Dee Hospital for several years. She worked for 13 years as a real estate agent and was a sales representative and consultant for Finelle Cosmetics. A classic beauty with style all her own, Diane made an impact everywhere she went. She was the "life of the party" with her flashing green eyes, wit, and infectious laugh. Guests to Diane's home always enjoyed a variety of treats and engaging conversation. Her grandchildren loved Christmas Eves spent at grandma and grandpa's house, dressing up in her eclectic outfits for the annual fashion show. She loved music, knitting, dancing, playing cards, and cooking her famous Swedish Pancakes and orange rolls. A lover of the performing arts, Diane participated in various Weber State productions, including Little Women, Fiddler on the Roof, and My Fair Lady.
We will miss Diane's generosity, sensitivity, grace, courage, caring spirit, tenacity, and love for us. We are elated that she is now unburdened and at peace.
Diane is survived by her devoted husband, Kim; forever grateful children, Gina, Danton (Wendee), and Justin (Amy); five cherished grandchildren, Lyndsea, Alysia, Colter, Celine, and Jett; adored sister, Janice Fisher (Wayne); sweet sisters-in-law, Karen Belnap (Dutch) and Kenny Taylor; many dear nieces and nephews and friends. We believe she is now in the arms of her recently deceased and beloved grandson, Bridger KC Butters. We also envision a sweet reunion with her parents; sister, Beverly Sherman; and brother, Richard Taylor.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Inspiration Home Health and Hospice, with a very heartfelt thank you to Alisha Richins and Debbie Johnson, Diane's dedicated medical providers, and the caring staff of Avamere at Mountain Ridge. Diane's children would like to acknowledge our father, Kim Butters, who exemplified a "stalwart heart" as he served as her primary caregiver during her final year. Mom was always in the very best of hands.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT 84403.
Services will be recorded and available by scrolling to the bottom of Diane's obituary page at: , where condolences may also be shared.
