Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service - MarionE. Sue Watson, 82, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. The family will greet friends from 2 - 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
Sue was born on September 16, 1943, in Osceola, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (McKnight) Cottingham. She attended Derby High School and graduated from Mormon Trail High School in Humeston, Iowa. On August 1, 1962, Sue was united in marriage to Harry H. Watson in Derby, Iowa, and together they made their home and raised three children.
A devoted homemaker, she found joy in nurturing her family and creating a loving environment. In addition to her role at home, Sue dedicated many years to her career, where she notably worked at Collins Community Credit Union for many years, before retiring from Dygert-Peck Company. She took great pleasure in her work, forging lasting relationships with colleagues and often reflecting fondly on her experiences there.
Sue had many interests that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. She was an avid crafter, creating heartfelt homemade cards for birthdays and holidays that brought smiles to her friends and family. She enjoyed reading, had a passion for gardening, and delighted in having lunch with her friends, cherishing the connections that brought joy and warmth into her daily life. Her spirit remains a guiding light for those who had the privilege to know her, and she will be deeply missed by all.
Sue is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Harry Watson of Marion; two daughters, Sandra Ozburn of Cedar Rapids, and Laura Watson of Fresno, California; four grandchildren, Trent (Shannon) Ozburn, Jared (Stephanie) Ozburn, Austin Watson, and Hunter Watson; several great-grandchildren; brother, David Weaklend of Indianola, Iowa; and sister, Vicki Coffey of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Richard Watson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sue’s memory may be directed to Inspiration Stables, located 21177 317th Street, LaMotte, Iowa 52054.
