Earl Daniel Buford, Jr., loving known as Danny, age 77, of Northport, AL, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Holliman officiating and burial to follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with military honors. A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Earl D Buford and Orie Pate Buford, and infant son, Daryl Keith Buford.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn Buford; daughters, Dana Waid (Byron) and Leigh Ann Fair (Kevin); grandson, Bradley Waid; granddaughters, Mandi McLemore and Jessi Chadwick (Nick); great grandchildren, Kaylee Bazzell and River and Rhody Chadwick; and sister, Terri Hutto (Kenneth).
Danny was a member of Tuscaloosa High School Class of 1965. He retired from BF Goodrich after 30 years of service. Danny also served in the Alabama Army National Guard for over 20 years, before retiring honorably.
Danny loved spending time with family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed making others laugh. Over the years his various pastimes of refereeing high school football, camping, building, flying, and crashing remote control airplanes, being an amateur radio operator (N4FIX) and avid duck hunter with his faithful companion "Duke" opened the doors to many friendships.
Special thanks to the caring nurses and staff of Caring Days and Hospice of West Alabama for their care and compassion shown to us all.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama, Caring Days, Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice.
