Earl Farris, a cherished figure known for his unwavering dedication to family and love for life's simple joys, passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 80, in
Odessa, Texas. Born on June 24, 1945, in the close-knit community of Eldorado, Texas, Earl's life was a testament to the strength of character and the power of perseverance.
Earl's early years in Eldorado laid the foundation for his robust work ethic. His formal education was cut short when he was called upon to help support his family, a responsibility he accepted without hesitation. Despite this, Earl's inquisitive mind and hands-on approach to learning allowed him to excel in various trades, particularly in the art of diesel mechanics.
A mainstay at Pojos Restaurant, Earl was a familiar and welcoming presence, always ready to share a story or lend an ear. His sense of community was deeply ingrained, and he built lasting friendships over cups of coffee and shared meals.
Family was the cornerstone of Earl's world. He is survived by his daughter, DJ Rambo; his brother, Burl Farris; his sister, Patsy Lehwalv; his beloved grandchildren, Brian Rogers, Stephanie Smitch, and Devon Pickett; and his adored great-grandchildren, Heavyn, Miracle, Matthew, and Kayden. His family will remember him as a man who could fix anything with a bit of duct tape and ingenuity, embodying his motto, "duct tape will fix anything."
Earl's life was enriched by his role as a husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing with them his knowledge of life and the importance of family bonds. His presence at family gatherings will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
An avid tinkerer, Earl could often be found in his shop, working on a car or embarking on a new project. His hands were rarely still, and his mind was always focused on the next challenge. His love for tinkering was paralleled by his love for vacationing in Cripple Creek, Colorado with his wife where he basked in the serenity of the mountains and the thrill of new adventures.
Though Earl is preceded in death by his wife, Vella Farris, his daughter, Dena Pyeatt, and his brothers, Robert, Johnnie, James, Harlan, and JB Farris, his spirit will live on through the stories they shared and the memories they created together. His legacy is one of resilience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
Earl Farris' journey through life was marked by his indomitable spirit, his generous heart, and his enduring love for his family. As we bid him farewell, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will continue to inspire and comfort us in the years to come. Earl will be remembered not for the challenges he faced but for the grace with which he met them and the joy he brought to those around him. Rest in peace, Earl; your memory will forever be a guiding light for us all.
