Earl Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Best Funeral Services Phoenix on Dec. 13, 2025.
Earl Harvey Johnson, a cherished husband, stepfather, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born on August 2, 1947, in St. Clemens, Michigan, Earl's journey through life was marked by his unwavering strength, kindness, and an innate ability to uplift those around him.
Earl was a proud graduate of his local high school and went on to further his education with a year of college, demonstrating early on his commitment to personal growth and learning. His dedication to his country was evident through his decorated service in the United States Army, where he was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device. These commendations spoke not only to his bravery but also to his character.
After serving his country, Earl built a successful career as a contractor specializing in home improvement. His work was more than a job; it was a way to connect with his community, providing not just services but also a helping hand and a listening ear to his clients and colleagues.
A devout Christian, Earl's faith guided him through life's trials and triumphs. He found solace and strength in his beliefs, which were reflected in the way he lived his life and treated others. His integrity, compassion, and generosity were the hallmarks of his personality.
Earl's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. A master craftsman, his love for woodworking was evident in the beautiful pieces he created and the joy he found in working with his hands. His collection of vintage stereos showcased his appreciation for the golden era of music and the simple pleasures of a well-crafted melody. An avid reader, Earl could often be found with a book in hand, lost in stories and knowledge that would fuel his conversations and wisdom.
The desert trails of Arizona offered Earl a sanctuary for hiking, where he embraced the beauty and solitude of nature. His enthusiasm for muscle cars was more than a hobby; it was a nod to his youth and a testament to his appreciation for American ingenuity and design. Power lifting showcased his discipline and physical strength, while antiquing allowed him to connect with history and the stories of bygone eras.
Earl's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Lucile Johnson, and his devoted stepdaughter, Michelle Lewis. They, along with his friends and community, will miss his warm presence, his hearty laugh, and his unwavering support.
As we bid farewell to Earl Harvey Johnson, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, service, and the pursuit of happiness. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as his life has been a beacon of hope and an example of the best of humanity. Earl's passing leaves a void in our hearts, but his spirit will forever remain a part of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I have known Earl and Lucy for years. I helped them with many home loans and getting into the home they shared together. Over the years we became friends and I absolutely adored Earl! He was a feisty man with a great passion for life. I am sad I am just now learning of his passing! He will never be forgotten.
