Earl F. Peterson, 89, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Inurnment will follow at the Dayton Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Church. Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton has been entrusted with arrangements.
Earl Franklin Peterson was born on August 22, 1936, in Dayton, Iowa, the son of Edwin Charles and Gay Henrietta (Olson) Peterson. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1954.
On September 24, 1988, Earl was united in marriage to Bernadine “Bernie” Stoneburner in Harcourt. The couple lived and farmed in the Dayton area. Bernie passed away on February 12, 2004.
Earl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bernadine, and three sisters, Ivadell Anderson, Ormagene Koger, and Elvera Bollenbaugh.
Survivors include three step-daughters, Jane Coover of Rogers, AR, Linda (Jeff) Sunstrom of Boone, IA, and Vickie (David) Bills of Dayton, IA; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Glenda Smalley of Boone, IA, Alice Keenan of Boone, IA, Jaunita Hankins of Corwith, IA, and Caryl (Charles) Erickson of Boone, IA.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
