Earl Workman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ames Monument & Cremation Center on Jun. 20, 2024.
Earl Workman, 88, of Newton passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
Earl will be laid to rest at private graveside services.
Earl Ralph Workman was born September 4, 1935, in Olive Hill, Kentucky to James Harvey and Callie Mae (Burchette) Workman. Earl grew up there and completed his education at Olive Hill High School. After graduation, Earl enlisted and served our country in the United States Army and spent time in Germany until he was honorably discharged. He was then living in Indiana when he met Roberta "Coleen" Workman. The couple were united in marriage on December 24, 1958, in Indiana and proudly adopted their daughter, Jennifer when she was three months old in 1974.
Earl pursued a career as a machinist, working at both Midwest Manufacturing and Wall Mart Sporting Goods. His profession led the family to move from Indiana to Newton, where he eventually retired.
Earl found joy in listening to country and gospel music. In his younger years, he participated in bowling leagues, enjoyed rounds of golf, and fishing around Iowa with friends and family. Most importantly, Earl cherished the memories and treasured moments spent with his entire family, holding them close to his heart.
Earl will be missed by his daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Gary, grandchildren, Chloe Wade, Brandon Wade, Sofia Gary, and Sierra Gary. He was preceded in death by wife of 56 years, Coleen Workman; parents, James and Callie Workman; sister, Pearl; and brother, Jack.
Memories of Earl may be shared with his family on the tribute wall.
