Earlene Palmer, 91 year old Woodward resident, died Friday, October 3, 2025 at her home in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Beaver Pioneer Cemetery, south of Beaver. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Edna Earlene (Phelps) Palmer was born on April 14, 1934 in Beaver, Oklahoma to John F. and Edna (Williamson) Phelps.
Earlene spent her early years in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. She graduated from Beaver High School.
She married her high school sweetheart, Chester Eugene Palmer, on February 27, 1954 and they spent 51 years together until his death on June 25, 2005. Chester and Earlene spent their early married life in Beaver, but briefly also lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma while Chester attended college, and then in Enid, Oklahoma. They finally settled in Woodward, Oklahoma where they had three children: Craig, Carol and Christine. The family also lived in Norway for a time when Chester worked on off-shore oil wells. Chester and Earlene eventually moved back to the family farm in Beaver county. They spent many happy years on their farm raising cattle and wheat. They enjoyed traveling, especially to Santa Fe, New Mexico where Earlene loved browsing in the local antique shops. Earlene and Chester also traveled extensively in Europe where Chester worked for many years. Upon Chester's death on June 25, 2005, Earlene moved back to Woodward.
Earlene enjoyed working in her yard, spending time with her many friends, and shopping for antiques. She was an avid animal lover and always had pets of her own. She frequently fostered dogs and cats for the local pet rescue and supported many pet rescue organizations.
Earlene was a volunteer with the Woodward Hospital Auxiliary and spent several years working each week at the hospital with her friends. She attended Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed helping to decorate for church dinners.
Earlene was preceded in death by her husband Chester Eugene Palmer, her son Craig Eugene Palmer, her son-in-law Max Alan Fanning, her parents, and all her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Edna Carol Dodd and husband Robert, her daughter Christine Fanning, grandchildren Lauren Palmer and partner Henry Pichardo, Whitley Palmer, Colby Palmer, Edna Michelle Bahena and husband Marcus, Nick Dodd and wife Martha, Sarah Fanning and partner Dustin Wilson, Carson Fanning and wife Ashley, Susan Mora and husband Luis, and 8 great grandchildren: Dakota, Devika, Grayson, Kennedy, Archer, Bowen, Bhric and Maxwell.
