Lafayette-A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Louisiana Funeral Services and Crematory honoring the life of Earline Marie Delahoussaye, 85, who passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Mason du Monde Nursing Home in Abbeville.
She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Delcambre with Deacon Cody Miller officiating the services.
Earline is survived by her children, Tina Barras, Tracy Barras (Katie), Tynia Barras, Twila Hernandez (Greg) and Trent Delahoussaye; grandchildren, Joshua Barras, Robin Wells, Mindy Barras, Dru Nevils, Macki Nevils, Cassie Vincent, Jessica Doucet, Travis Guillot, Stacie Barber, Heather Martel, Lauren Blanchard, Drake Blanchard, Derek Hernandez and Lucas Hernandez; thirty-one great grandchildren; siblings, Gwenice Morell, Michelle Noel and Stacy Harris; along with Little Girl (her chiweenie).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Onis and Mary Louise Delahoussaye; son, Timothy Barras; daughter, Tammie Barras; and twin brother, Earl Delahoussaye.
Anyone that knew Earline knew that she was a very feisty lady. She had a great sense of humor and a passionate zest. If she had an opinion, she was always willing to share it! She was a homemaker all her life and raised her 7 children single-handedly. She loved music and dancing. Her grandchildren shared in that love with the ever famous and playful "Granny Dance". As a silly prank, she ended up on YouTube as Granny's One-eyed Cupid Shuffle, after eye surgery and under heavy influence! Her "happy place" was in her yard. She spent countless hours planting flowers and mowing her grass. She loved variety and creativity. As she would often state, "someone's trash is another one's treasure". She was resourceful and made something out of nothing! Her décor was ever-changing, constantly rearranging furniture and design. But what she did not possess in "material things" she made up with her big heart. She did not have much to give but she gave with all of her love. Her genuine smile is engraved (as is the lifted one eyebrow) in the minds of those who knew her. Her legacy is her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who all share in her DNA of giving spirit, love, and sense of humor. She may have left this world, but she is and always will be present.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Mason du Monde and Traditions Hospice for their care and compassion they showed Earline.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Louisiana Funeral Services and Crematory 108 Hardware Rd Broussard, LA 337-330-8006 from 10:00 AM until time of services.
