It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Ed Bartolome Hilo, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who was called to Heaven to be with the Lord on July 14, 2025, at the age of 63.

Ed was born in Tarlac, Philippines to his parents Narciso and Bella Hilo. Along with his parents and 7 siblings, he moved to the US as a child and was raised in Northbrook, IL. He returned to the Philippines for dental school where he met the love of his life, Mylene Ongos. They married in December 1985 and shared nearly four decades of unwavering love, partnership and devotion.

Ed was a proud father to David, Matthew, Kristen, and Edward. Together with Mylene, they raised their children in Deerfield, IL where he built a beautiful life rooted in love, faith and dedication to family. In his later years, Ed found immense joy in being a grandfather to four cherished granddaughters and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another granddaughter this coming September.

A successful and accomplished dentist, Ed ran his own dental practice in San Bruno, California, where he was known for his skill, compassion, and professionalism. His work touched countless lives and his legacy continues through the smiles he helped create.

Ed was known for his quick wit, humor, hardworking spirit, and deep faith. He found joy in playing golf, listening to many genres of music, jamming on the piano or drums and traveling the world.

Above all, he enjoyed spending time with loved ones and being a guiding presence to many. He was a family man in every sense- often seen as a father figure and brother to those around him. His love for his family and dearest friends was evident in every moment he spent with them, whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply enjoying their company. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the many treasured memories he created.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mylene, and their children, David (Hazel), Matthew (Kay), Kristen (Greg), and Edward. He was a loving grandfather to Isabella, Amelia, Jhene, and Ashanti.

Ed's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His laughter, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A visitation will be held at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL 60646 on August 11, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mass will follow at St. Lambert Church, 8148 Karlov Ave. Skokie, IL 60076 on August 12, 2025 at 10:30 AM family and friends will meet at church. A private inurnment will take place at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, IL.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Ed's name would be appreciated to the Rogationist Seminary Manila.
