Born on July 13, 1968 in Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Emmett and Geneva Freeman Byrd. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters; Pat Murdock, Paula Byrd and Denise Russo.
Eddie was employed by Sibelco where he served as the safety manager. He was retired from the Parkway Volunteer Fire Department. He loved spending time with his grandsons. He was known as a man with a caring heart and enjoyed helping others. In his spare time, he also enjoyed playing golf, baseball and cooking.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Melissa Yelton Byrd of the home, his sons; Dillon Byrd of Walterboro, SC and Dustin Byrd and wife, Cheyenne of Bakersville, his grandsons; Reed and Beau Byrd of Bakersville, his brothers; Raymond Byrd and Emmett Byrd, Jr. both of Spruce Pine.
Funeral services for Eddie Byrd will be on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Kelly Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to; Mitchell County Fireman's Association.

Webb Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Byrd and is honored to be serving the Byrd family. Mr. Byrd's obituary has also been posted on Facebook for viewing.
