Eddie Martinez Rivera Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapel Memorial Funeral Home - Waterbury on Mar. 18, 2026.
Mr. Eddie Zady Martinez Rivera, 65, of Waterbury lovingly known as "Ñoño," passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Eddie was born on May 25, 1960, in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico to his beloved parents, Dionisia Rivera and Fermin Martinez, both of whom preceded him in death.

Eddie was a man of quiet strength and a gentle soul. He lived a simple and peaceful life, finding comfort in the little things that brought him joy. Though he often kept to himself, those who knew him understood the depth of his soft and calm presence. For nearly two decades, Eddie worked at Sears in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he took pride in his work and the routine it brought to his life until the store eventually closed. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time with the things that made him happy-games, word search puzzles, and movies. He was also a devoted sports fan who kept up with baseball, football, basketball, wrestling, and many other sports. Eddie had a deep love for music and enjoyed listening to all kinds of genres, always appreciating the sounds and rhythms they carried. Though Eddie never married and had no children of his own, he was loved by his family.

He is survived by his brother, Confesor Martinez, with whom he shared a special bond and a quiet understanding that only brothers can share. Eddie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will remember him fondly and carry his memory with them. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Luz Martinez and Carmen "Tita" Martinez, and his brother, Jose "Ñoqui" Martinez.

For those who may not have known Eddie well, he was someone who walked through life quietly, most comfortable in the calm of his own space. While the world often teaches us to fear being alone, Eddie showed that there can be peace in solitude and a quiet strength in learning to be at home within ourselves. Though his life was lived quietly, his presence was meaningful to those who knew and loved him. The calmness he carried and the simplicity with which he lived will always be remembered.

May his memory live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and may he rest in peace.
