It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie "Mo" Lee Mathis, age 69, of Perry, Florida, who left us on September 11, 2025. Born on July 16, 1956, in Perry, Eddie was a beloved father and a cherished figure in his community.
Eddie dedicated his life to his work as a master logger in the forestry industry for John A. Cruce Logging, Inc, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steadfast commitment to the land he loved. Outside of work, he found joy in spending time in nature, whether hunting or fishing, pursuits that brought him peace and fulfillment. In addition to his connection with nature, Eddie had a passion for drag racing, often found at the racetrack, revving his engines.
Above all, Eddie treasured the moments he shared with his family. He was a devoted family man, and his greatest joy came from nurturing and celebrating the milestones of those he loved.
Eddie's warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit will be deeply missed but will live on in the memories of all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Shannon; his parents, Thomas and Esmer Mathis; and his grandson, Hannon Mitchell.

Eddie is survived by his children, Chrissie (Matt) Holley, Jeremy Mathis, Ciera (Craig) Mitchell, Crystal (TJ) Sheffield, Jake Mathis, Ricky Norman, and Tommy Norman; his sisters and one brother, Elizabeth (Glenn) Booher, Mary Norman Reams, Jerry Mathis, Shirley (Larry) Sharpe, and Liddie (Rocky) Davis; a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
