Shelton Jerry Register Sr. beloved husband, father, grandfather, Uncle and friend, passed away on September 6, 2025. Jerry was born in Taylor County on September 20, 1951. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, June Davis Walker and Vera Blanton Walker, as well as his Uncle, Rufus Walker, who was like a father to him. Jerry was the fourth generation of a farming family here in Taylor County.

Jerry grew up attending New Home Baptist Church, became a follower of Jesus and was baptized there as a youngster. He graduated from Taylor County High School in 1970 and went on to receive his AA degree from NFC. In 1971 he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Sue Wincey. The two had a daughter, Shelley, and a son, Jeremy.

After marrying Carol Sue, Jerry became a member at First Baptist Perry and was active a member over the last 50 years. He was a 4-H leader and a board member for Farm Bureau. Jerry was also an instrumental part of the Taylor Country Republican Party. Jerry was a man of many talents & endeavors. He was brought up in the Walker family's tobacco business from birth. He later became business partners with his father figure, Rufus Walker, as they expanded and perfected the farm's tobacco and cow operations.

In 1982, he established S. J. Register Incorporated as the owner and operator and run this business for 26 years which was an area leader in reforestation. He also pursued ventures in: Law Enforcement, Freight Transport, Insurance, Local Politics, and Real Estate. Jerry loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them waterskiing, horse showing and discussing history. He also had a passion for weightlifting.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Davis and Vera Walker, his Uncle Rufus Walker, and his mother Sarah Walker Chauncey. He is survived by his wife Carol Sue; daughter, Shelley Allen (Zach); son, Jeremy Register (Kori); and four grandchildren, Jackson, Walker, and Caroline Allen, and Tripp Register.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm on Thursday evening, September 11, 2025 at Burns Funeral Home of Perry, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church in Perry, Florida on September 12 at 11:00am. A private interment will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to: Guatemala mission trip sponsored by First Baptist of Perry, Florida or The Henry Davis Scholarship Fund, (payable to UF Foundation as a Memorial Gift in honor of Jerry Register PO Box 110170 Gainesville, Fl 32611)
