Eddy Randall Benton passed away on October 17, 2025, at United Regional Healthcare in Wichita Falls, Texas. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:00 am, in Restland Cemetery with Dr. Chad Edgington officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Eddy was born in Knox City, Texas, on July 20, 1949, to the late Billy Randall and Thelma Corine (Sells) Benton. He married Paula Newsom in Dallas, Texas, on November 23, 1966, and they spent almost fifty-five years together before she preceded him in death in June of 2021. Eddy and Paula moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he worked as an iron worker and welder. They moved back to Olney in 1982 from Grand Prairie, Texas, and he started working at Olney Ford for Bill Woolley. Eddy enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time, and he never missed a dove season. His passion was auto mechanics and auto restoration; he traveled all over the state of Texas to bring his altered car to the races. He owned and operated Eddy's Garage for nearly forty years. Eddy loved spending time with his friends and family, but especially in July for his birthday celebration.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Paula Benton, his sister, Vicki Benton, his brother-in-law, Butch Newsom, his cousin, Billy Williams, and his nephew, Eddy Wray Newsom.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Steve Gray of Olney, Texas; his sister, Rita Gail Williams of Paradise, Texas; and his brother, Bobby Dean Benton of Olney, Texas. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews also survive him.
