Edgar Burns, 82, husband of Barbara Lou Brittain Burns, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky, on February 4, 1943, to the late Johnny Burns and Edna Melton Burns. Edgar was a retired diesel mechanic for Brandeis Machinery, having worked there for 50 years, and he attended Apostolic Fellowship Holiness Church. In his free time, Edgar enjoyed ATV trail riding, carpentry, and collecting knives. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara; daughter, Angelia B. Richardson; brothers, Donald Burns (Geraldine), Joseph Burns (Vicky), and Russell Burns; sister, Debra Collins; granddaughter, Noelle Murphy (Rodney); and three great-grandchildren, Whitney-Grace Murphy, Sarah-Elizabeth Murphy, and Caleb Murphy. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Wayne Burns and Darryl Burns; and sister, Judy Root. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 7, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Murphy and Pastor Joseph Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, where pallbearers will be Bobby Burns, Jerry Lynn Burns, Tim Burns, Rodney Murphy, Doug Moore, and Jarod Mills. Caleb Murphy will serve as an honorary bearer. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service, Friday, at the funeral home.
