Edgar R. Morrell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2026, at the age of 87 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Born on September 16, 1938, Edgar was the son of the late Jessie James Morrell and Violet Sidney Johnson Morrell.
Edgar proudly served in the United States Navy for six years, a commitment that instilled in him a sense of discipline and respect that he carried throughout his life. He dedicated over 30 years of his life as a respected real estate broker, where he was the owner of Boiling Springs Realty. His earlier career included a 13-year tenure at Sears, where he enjoyed serving customers.
Edgar loved to go out to play golf every chance he could. Another pass-time included trying out new software on his computer and designing floor plans for new homes. Edgar was very passionate about real estate and his outgoing personality enabled him to connect well with his clients.
He was actively involved in his community and worshiped at North Spartanburg Freewill Baptist Church for over 20 years, where he served diligently as a Deacon, providing guidance and support to his church family.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Patricia L. Morrell, who shared a deep bond with him for 69 years. Edgar is also survived by his cherished children: Lynn Sutton (late husband Dana Sutton), Kay Gosnell (Joel), Ray Morrell (Beth), and Edwar Morrell. His legacy continues through his 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, John Morrell. Edgar was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be held, from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, followed by a Graveside Service beginning at 10:00 AM. The family will also receive friends following the Graveside. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ray Hollifield and Rev. Jonathan Weaver.
May he rest in peace, cherished in the hearts of many.
