The man, the medical mystery!

My father, Edgar T. Numrich, passed away on Sunday, July 27th, 2025. He would have been 85 on August 5th. However, as many know, he was a HUGE lover of life, and to that end he ate horribly, drank like a fish for much of his life, smoked until the early 90’s, and despised most every doctor he ever met. As a consequence I’m giving him 85. He earned it. He was also charming, gregarious, a rascal and a flirt like no other. He adored his grandchildren, always referring to them as his grandest kids! He loved my mother deeply despite them being divorced from each other longer than they were married. His greatest gift to all of us was his love of travel and thirst for knowing different people and places. He never met a cruise ship he didn’t love in some way. He put himself through Carleton College and succeeded both in business and as an officer in the Navy. He was a good man. He could also be fierce, insecure and judgmental. Like all of us. As he grew older those last three descriptors passed away and he became reflective, humble and kind. May we all be so lucky. I loved him dearly. He drove me nuts! So, today is his 85th! And, I’m quite certain he’s playing the piano in a beautiful bar on a ship somewhere in the heavens… he’s also flirting like mad with a cocktail waitress.

Sail on Edgar, “Easy Ed”, Numrich. May you never be bored and always remembered.
