Edith Hogan Taylor, 93, peacefully finished her earthly race in the early morning of October 26, 2025 following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1 at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Main on Memorial Drive. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Randall Reed and Rev. Ben Wallis will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, October 31 from 4-6 pm.
Mrs. Taylor was greeted in heaven by her parents William "Bill" and Evon Bryant Hogan; her husband Charles Henry Taylor; brother-in-law, Billy Joel Taylor; son-in-law, James Lee Scroggs.
She is missed here on earth by her daughter, Barbara Taylor Scroggs; grandchildren, Rev. Jeffery Taylor and Amber Camilla Scroggs and Jason Daniel and Holly Jean Scroggs; great-grandchildren, Elisabeth Arwen Scroggs, Samuel Taylor Scroggs, Andrew Jonathan Beorn Scroggs, Jason Harry Scroggs, Charles Mathias Scroggs, Daniel James Scroggs, Debra Ann Scroggs; brother and sister-in-law, Shorty and Judy Hogan; sisters-in-law, Judy Taylor and Eleanor Taylor Wilson; niece and nephew-in-law, Jon and Wanda Hogan Jennings; nieces, Sandra Skelton and Heather Taylor Cloud; great nephews, Davey Jennings and Casey Jennings; cousins, Pat and Darrel Hogan.
Mrs. Taylor grew up at White Plains Baptist Church in Jefferson, attended First Baptist Church of Oakwood with her family, and later in life was a member of Riverbend Church in Gainesville. She worked with optometrist Dr. J.C. Morrison for 44.5 years in Gainesville. She spent her time later in life with family, putting together puzzles, and coloring beautiful pages.
Flowers will be accepted or donations made in memory of Edith Taylor to Riverbend Church in Gainesville.
