Edith W. Jorritsma, a remarkable woman of faith, kindness, and thoughtfulness, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023. Born May 8, 1939, in Whitinsville, MA, Edith was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Annis (Hamilton) Jardine.
Edith was a proud graduate of Northbridge High School, class of 1956. Her love, intelligence and hard-working nature was evident in her ability to create a home for her growing family and extended family. She was an amazing homemaker. She had also worked many years at the former Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville. In later years, she continued to serve her community by working at Whitinsville Retirement Home and Beaumont in Northbridge. Her dedication to her work was evident in the respect and admiration she gained from her colleagues and those she cared for.
She was the loving wife of the late Ronald J. Jorritsma, and the devoted mother to Randy J. Jorritsma of Uxbridge and Kurt S. Jorritsma of South Grafton. Edith's kindness and wisdom will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her beloved extended family. She was also blessed to meet her great-great grandchild, Paisley Rain Robinson, a testament to the long and fruitful life she led.
Edith had a passion for reading and could often be found with a book in hand. She had a competitive spirit that became a love on the bowling lanes, where she was a valued member of the Whitinsville Sparetime League, earned numerous trophies for her prowess and was even featured on bowling T.V. shows. She also had a creative side, as evidenced by her love for crochet. Her beautiful Afghans are treasured keepsakes for her family and a testament to her skill and patience. Edith was also known for her culinary skills, and many family gatherings were made special with her delicious meals.
Edith was a woman of deep faith, which guided her throughout her life. Her thoughtful nature and kindness made her a beacon of light in the lives of those who know her. Her legacy of love, faith and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all those she touched.
Her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her will miss Edith.
A Celebration of Life for Edith will be held on October 21, 2023 at 11AM in the Buma Funeral Home, 480 Church St., Whitinsville. Internment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, 380 Providence Rd., South Grafton.

Randy and Kurt,
I am so sorry to hear of Edie's passing. You probably don't remember who I am.
Dean and I were close to your Mom and Dad during the 50 and 60's when we liv lived on Marion Drive in Whitinsville. Edie and Dean were close friends during their childhood and graduated from NHS together. The last time I saw your Mom was in 2016 when she came to the burial of Dean. I will miss her always and remember her and your dad always. Due to health concerns of my own I will not be able to attend the services on the 21st but will be there in spirit.
