Edith Lucille Kammer

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edith Lucille Kammer, of Glen Burnie, MD, on January 15, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on October 22, 1927, in Altavista, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of James and Martha Delano. She chose to go by her middle name, Lucille, which she preferred and was lovingly known by throughout her life.

Lucille will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering devotion to her family, and compassion for others. She had a lifelong love of games, especially Yahtzee, Scrabble and poker, which brought laughter and connection to everyone around her.

Throughout her life, she touched countless lives through her dedication to family, friends, and children. She cherished caring for her grandchildren when they were young and warmly welcomed neighborhood children into her home for snacks and even an occasional haircut. In her senior years, Lucille's front porch became a beloved gathering place, where neighbors would stop by simply to visit, share stories and enjoy her company.

She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Miles (Bernard) and Cynthia Freij; her four grandchildren, Jessica Klug (John), Andrea Jones (Wijy), Sammy Freij and Adam Freij; and her four great-grandchildren, John Klug IV, Alana Klug, Eli Jones and Trevor Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kammer, as well as her seven sisters and three brothers.

Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. on February 13, 2026, at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD 21032 (immediate family only), followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Beach Community Hall, 1177 Wharf Drive, Pasadena, MD 21122. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a life well lived.
