Louis Boehm Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maryland Cremation Services on Feb. 25, 2026.
Louis Alfred Boehm, Jr., affectionately known to friends and family as Lou or Louie, passed away in the early morning of Monday, February 2, 2026 at the age of 71 years old. Born November 11, 1954, in Annapolis, Maryland, he was the oldest of two sons, born to the late Louisa and Louis Boehm, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bonnie; his brother, Joseph "Tommy" Boehm; son, Robert Boehm (Sarah); daughters, Amanda Vandergriff (John) and Tiffany Miller (David); step daughters, Lisa Carr (Johnny) and Lori Atkins; step son, Joseph Stang; 13 grandchildren, Brynlee, Emersyn, Ryden, Ronan, Renik, Reston, Whitney, Natalee, Jason, Nathan, Payton, Lily and Mason; 2 great grandchildren, Mila and Theodora.

Growing up on St. Stephens Church Road in Crownsville, Maryland-a close-knit community where everyone knew each other, helped one another, celebrated the good times, and lifted each other up during the bad for generations-Louie treasured every friendship forged along his home road. He found great satisfaction in farming, with his U-Pick strawberry fields and pumpkin patches being a particular source of pride. He was always honored by returning customers with their families and their stories of making jams or pies.

During harvest, his children were often found riding in the combine, in the back of a truck or wagon, or simply playing in the dirt. Friday nights were reserved for TGIF, complete with Little Caesars crazy bread and RC Cola. Sundays meant watching The Wonderful World of Disney and Wild America on PBS, even if they were reruns. To top it off, the family indulged in treats like vanilla ice cream topped with Tang powder or giant frozen peaches.

After moving to the farm in Severn, Louie's days were comfortably paced and filled with simple pleasures, often starting with him and Bonnie catching up on the morning shows. Afterward, he could usually be found in the shop, tinkering on an old tractor or visiting with friends. As the day wound down, he loved nothing more than sitting on the porch, taking in the quiet moments while watching nature.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Louie enjoyed fishing, farming and bird watching. Even more so when that time was shared with his children and grandchildren. He especially was excited to share cardinal sightings with his wife, Bonnie. His greatest pride was his children and grandchildren. "Poppy" loved spending time with them. He would joyfully celebrate at birthday parties, attend their games and school concerts, and continually checked in on them to get updates.

Louie valued people. He was a professional conversationalist. He loved to talk. To anyone. Anywhere. One of his most notable past times was sharing his experiences and thoughts with friends and family, often at his beloved truck stop. Discussing how to change the world, a commentary heard from Paul Harvey (his fav) or sharing a laugh over a joke.

"Looking back on my life. It was good, real good. Sure I had some rough bumps along the way, but they helped make me what I am now..." Louis A. Boehm, Jr July 22nd, 2024
