Edith Stokes Kitler, 88, went home to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
She was born on April 13, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida and was the daughter of the late Cleaton & Mattie Lee (Norton) Stokes. Edith graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, class of 1954, and married the love of her life, Vernon Kitler, on April 27, 1956. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was very special to her and you could count on her to be at every family celebration. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was especially known for all of her fabulous cakes. She was also a talented decorator, and at Christmas, she would decorate her home with 5 beautiful Christmas trees, and over a dozen nativity scenes to celebrate Jesus' birth. She has been faithful in church all of her life and was a member for over 25 years at Destination Church (formerly Arlington Assembly of God).
Preceded in death by her parents and survived by her loving husband, Vernon Kitler; 3 children: Sheryl McDuffie (Jack), Rick Kitler and Randy Kitler (Selina); 10 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren; 3 sisters: Ruby Stokes, Juanita Jones (Gary) and Wanda Thigpen (Danny); 1 brother: Clyde Stokes; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
Her celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Destination Church, 88 Arlington Road North, with Pastor Chad Burgbacher, Pastor Ken Barney, and Pastor Rick Crook, officiating.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
