Edith A. McCabe

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Edith A. McCabe, 80, of Broadway passed away Thursday morning, October 16, 2008 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph T. McCabe.

Born January 21, 1928 in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Lunny) Oram. Edith grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston and has been a resident of North Attleboro for over twenty years.

She worked as a secretary at different companies in the area for many years before retiring 20 years ago.

Mrs. McCabe has recently volunteered at the Soup Kitchen at Grace Episcopal Church and was a Eucharistic Minister at Madonna Manor for ten years. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Parish in North Attleboro and a member of the Rosary Society there.

She is survived by two sons, Michael McCabe of Medfield and Stephen McCabe of East Bridgewater; a daughter, Linda Jacinto of North Attleboro; three sisters, Louise McCarthy of South Carolina, Helen Burton of Medford and Rosanna Oram of Braintree and four grandchildren, Joseph, Nicole, Brandon and January Jacinto.

A funeral will be held from the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Monday, October 20 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Park Street, at 10 o’clock. Burial will follow in Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.

Relatives and friends are also invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
