Edmond C. Trindade of Mt. Airy, NC passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025. He was affectionately known as "Duke" from the former Duke's Variety Store on Columbia St. in Fall River, MA. He was 101 years old.

    Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Diogo Trindade and the late Laura Trindade. He is predeceased by his wife Hirondina (Irene) S. Trindade. Together they had 5 children. Irene passed in 1983. He is also predeceased by his wife Gracie Noriega Trindade with whom he spent 33 years in Mt. Airy.

    His career in the US NAVY brought him and his family from Columbia Street in Fall River to Concord, CA; Honolulu, HI; Jamaica Queens, NY; Norfolk, VA and eventually back to Fall River where he took over Dukes Variety in 1970. After moving to Mt. Airy, he enjoyed going to bingo and spent countless hours landscaping and cutting the grass in their huge yard.

    He is survived by his four children, Steven of Tiverton, RI; Raymond of Rural Hall, NC; Anna Marie Sheppard of Newport News, VA and Dianna Dionne of Palm Coast, FL. He is predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth Symons of Gilbert, AZ. He leaves a brother David in San Jose, CA and is predeceased by his brother Irenieu and two sisters, Deolinda (Del) Furtado, and Palmira Dominion all of Fall River. He leaves 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

    Arrangements are by Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, Fall River, MA. There will be a memorial mass on Saturday, November 1st, at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church, 240 Columbia Street, Fall River, MA. Friends and family are all welcome. He will be laid to rest in Pocasset Hill Cemetery in Tiverton, RI alongside his wife Irene at a private burial service. Memorial donations in Edmond's name can be made to Tunnel to Towers (T2t.org).
