Edna Williams Hartlage, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Born in Russellville, Kentucky, to the late David and Alice Williams, Edna was a beacon of kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her community.
A longtime resident of Jeffersonville, Edna was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, where she cherished the fellowship and service to her congregation. She devoted much of her time as an officer with the Business and Professional Women's (BPW) Group and was actively involved with the Optimist Club, always striving to uplift those around her with positivity and generosity.
"Miss Edna," as she was affectionately known by many, was deeply passionate about the care and nurture of children. Through her work as the owner of Kiddie Korral daycare and her tireless involvement with the Clark County 4-H, she shaped countless young lives with love, guidance, and encouragement. She was instrumental in building up the after-school programs in many area schools, providing children with opportunities for growth, leadership, and community involvement. Her dedication to these programs not only enriched the lives of the children but also strengthened the bonds of her community.
Edna's legacy will forever be remembered in the lives of those she touched-through her warm smile, generous spirit, and unyielding commitment to giving back. Her family, friends, and community will continue to cherish the countless memories they shared with this remarkable woman.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James Williams and his wife Shirley.
Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Hartlage; son, Steve Chaney (Becky); grandsons, Joe & Jason Chaney; great grandchildren, Clayton and Addison Chaney; step-sons, Jay Hartlage(Becky) and Gary Hartlage (Dee); siblings, Nancy Teeple (Charlie) and Gary Williams (Marilyn); niece, Jennifer Williams; nephews, David Williams (Lori), James Williams (Andrea), Greg Owens, and Rodney Owens (Pam); great nephews, Matthew Owens, Jason Owens, Christopher and Jackson Williams; great niece, Elizabeth Williams; and grand dog, DJ Muddy Paws.
Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway. Funeral services in honor of her life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
