Edna Krenek was born on August 5, 1923 in Ammannsville, Texas to Henry and Mary Cernosek Marek. She was the middle of five children.
Edna married Louis Krenek in January, 1942 and was the mother of three children. She was the ultimate farmer's wife in support of her husband and family. When she wasn't busy cooking, cleaning, canning, or gardening (she kept a garden till she was in her 90s) she could be found working in the fields with her family. Her cooking skills were incredible. The family would coming running when the smell of fresh-baked kolaches was in the air.
Edna was a great seamstress. She crafted many wedding dresses (including one for her daughter), prom dresses, skirts, blouses, and other garments for family, friends, and the public. She even made a leisure suit for her husband when those were in style.
One of her many attributes was having a positive attitude in life. She would tend to look for the good in a bad situation. She was prone to taking the high road and was always willing to be of service to someone in need. She was a member of St. Philips Catholic Church in El Campo and was a long-term member of the Catholic Daughters chapter there. After her husband passed away in 1995 she was very active in supporting their funeral luncheons by making cakes, kolaches, and serving tea.
Edna and her husband were members of a Dance Club and enjoyed going to dances and visiting with relatives and friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Emil Marek and Johnnie Marek, and sisters Georgia Bostick and Agnes Hajovsky. She is survived by her children Dolores Morgan of Dallas, Patrick (Pat) Krenek of Brownwood, and Ted Krenek of Pattison. She has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services for Edna Krenek will start with Visitation at Triska Funeral Home from 4 to 6PM on Friday, November 15 with a Rosary at 6PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philip's Catholic Church at 10AM on Saturday, November 16. Interment will be in Holy Cross Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Philip School.
