Edna Mae Clark Phillips, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, in Morehead City, North Carolina. Born on September 30, 1937, in Washington, North Carolina, she lived a life full of love and joy, reaching the age of 87.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Sayland Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Piney Grove Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
Edna was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Phillips Jr., her parents, Rufus Clark and Stella Dixon Clark, her brothers, John Clark and David Clark, and her cherished dogs, Chip and Toby.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Dottie Ruggles, and her sons, Allen Phillips and his wife Shari, and Terry Phillips and his wife Patty. Edna was a proud grandmother to Jimmy, T.J., Ashlee, Trisha, Amanda, Staci, and Allen Jr., and a doting great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren, with one more expected soon. She also leaves behind her faithful dog, Tico.
Edna's interests included crafting and spending her afternoons watching her favorite television shows, "Days of Our Lives" and "Wheel of Fortune." Cross-stitching, sewing, quilting, and crocheting were her favorite ways to create for her family. She was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and attended as many games as she could. Her family remembers her as the sweetest and happiest person they knew, always bringing joy and warmth to those around her. She was a loving mother not only to her children but also to her daughter-in-law, who cherished her deeply.
Edna Mae Clark Phillips will be remembered for her kind heart and the happiness she brought into the lives of everyone she touched. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Edna, please visit our floral store.
