Edna (Rhodes) Criss Obituary
Edna Mae (Rhodes) Criss, 96, of Oak Hill passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Fayetteville Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side.
Born July 23, 1928 in Cunard, WV she was the daughter of the late William Ernest and Minnie Elizabeth Cody Rhodes.
Edna last attended Grace Baptist Church. Her greatest joy in life was being able to spend time with family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Even after raising nine children, she babysat several children in the community.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, James Valentine Criss; and siblings, Genevieve McMillion, Lorene Lekan Duncan, Estelle Matulis, Virginia O'Boyle, Josephine Rhodes, Georgia Fisher, and Ernest "Buzzy" Rhodes.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her 9 loving children, Jimmy Criss (Donna), Ronnie Criss (Brenda), Larry Criss (Robin), Ann Pilato (Steve), Ernest Criss (Barbara), Trena Burt (Denny), Cathy Roberts (Darrell), Jerry Criss (Mary) and Norma Salvatori (John), 15 grandchildren, Mark, Misty, Larry Dale, Roger, Eric, James, Brandon, Leslee, Jonathan, Emily, Erin, Giovanni, Alessandro, Michael, and Giuseppe; 13 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Norma Menei, and Irene Elkins, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Graveside rites with burial to follow will be 4:15 PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens with her son Pastor Larry Criss officiating.
Visitation for friends will be from 2:30 PM until 3:50 PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill.
Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations of sympathy be made to the Bowers Hospice House 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley WV, 2801 for the care of their mom. The family would also like to thank Fayetteville Healthcare Center for all the care and compassion they showed to their mom.
