Edna was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was born on December 31 st, 1938, and passed away on April 4th, 2025. Edna enjoyed life and always wanted to share the joy of living. She was born in Christ Church Barbados to Robert and Iris Trotman. Robert was a carpenter and seaman. Iris was a home maker, seamstress and prayer warrior. Iris loved the Lord, and her prayers transformed the lives of many of her descendants. Edna was one whose life was transformed by the prayers of her mother.
Edna studied at St. Matthias school before working at Hinds drug store in Bridgetown, Barbados. She eventually entered retail and worked as a manager at El Hombre in Bridgetown. She excelled in sales and became a manager of Baymart supermarket in Speightown, Barbados. She eventually took her skills to Sears and Roebuck in Massachusetts where she became a retail supervisor within the parts department.
Edna and Hugh were married for 65 years. They met in 1957 and married in June 1958. Edna loved children and couldn't wait to start a family of her own with Hugh. She leaves behind her loving husband Hugh Thomas. Her three children are Vincel, Roger and Dale. Her daughters-in-law are Rosie who is married to Vincel and Anita who is married to Roger. Her grandchildren are Vincel L., Silver, Valyn, Janay, Ariana, Roger Jamaal, and Andre. Her great grandchildren are Juliana, Gabby, Sophia, Liam, Connor, Aiden, Thomas, and Anaira (unborn). Her nieces and nephews are Wendy Riley, Shirley Foster, Ann Edghill, Wayne Trotman, Bryan Trotman, Curtis Trotman, Anthony Trotman, Betty Rogers, Gail Chase and Robert Thomas. Her cousins are Elsie Foster, Margery Watson, Gwendoline Murphy Lynch and Philip Murphy. She also had a special bond with Barbara Ann Ferdinand.
Edna loved the Lord and was gifted with a servant's heart. She was very active in her church community at Trinity Church of Plaistow, NH. She especially liked preparing meals for special events and on a weekly basis was part of a team that prepared lunch for attendees following the church service. After relocating to Jacksonville, Fl for her retirement, she became a member at Church of the Redeemer. She became involved in the Barbados Association in Jacksonville, Fla. where she developed lasting friendships.
Edna will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her quick wit and fun-loving personality. She enjoyed hosting and making others feel at home. She is already missed by her loved ones. Edna was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Iris Trotman and her siblings
Winfield, Lucille, Joyce, and Hutson.

Leroy and Doris Landry

April 11, 2025

Our hearts reach out to the Thomas family during this sad time. We have known this family since 1990 and have come to love each of them as our own family. Whether it be during our commute time on the train with her husband, or spending social time with two of her sons, Edna filled in as a second mom during our times of need. She was a warm and loving mom who was also very proud of her husband and three sons and their families. We will truly miss Edna, but our hearts know she is in a better place where the word "suffer" does not exist. God is truly kind to his children and Edna has now gone home to her heavenly father. Sending lots of love and deepest prayers to her family. Love, Leroy and Doris Landry.
