Edna J. "Nan" Vice, age 99, of Dunlap, Illinois, passed away peacefully, at 11:11 Am on Monday, October 13, 2025 at the Villas of Hollybrook in Peoria surrounded by her family.
She was born August 3, 1926 in Kings Mills, OH, the daughter to Claude and Hazel (Powell) Burton. On February 17, 1945 she married Cecil W. Vice in Lebanon, OH, and together they cherished 66 years until his passing on March 11, 2011. Having been raised with a love for the simple joys of life Nan enjoyed fishing on Lake of Egypt in Goreville, IL, where she lived many years, camping, and the numerous trips with Cecil wintering in Texas. Her days were often filled with tending to her garden, creating beautiful crafts, cooking and sewing; all skills that she not only excelled in but used to lovingly bless others.
A devout woman of faith, Nan lived her life with grace and purpose, always guided by her deep faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morton where her warmth and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Nan worked as a bookkeeper/secretary for Wabco, now known as Komatsu, until her retirement. She later spent many years working in the gift shop at Cracker Barrel, where her cheerful presence and kind heart earned her many friendships. She had a special knack for finding just the right gift and was known for generously spoiling her family with treasures she found there.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who always put others first. Her thoughtful ways, strong faith, and creative hands made her a cornerstone of her family.
Survivors include one son Claude William "Bill" (Cheryl) Vice of Evergreen, CO; five grandchildren: Cara (Nathanel), Chad, Brad (Jamie), Drew, Lindsey (Mike); 9 great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law Jackie Vice of Peoria.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil, one son Ron Vice and one brother Bob Burton.
Visitation will be held at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 10:30 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap, IL.
Though her time was short at Villa of Hollybrook, the family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all the staff for their warm and loving care for Nan.
Preferred memorials in Nan's memory may be made to St. Jude’s Midwest Affiliate.

I was so saddened when I learned Edna had passed away. My heartfelt condolences to Bill and the family. She spoke often about how much her sons & family did for her. She loved and cherished all of you so very much. I would hear about all the family events & the holiday gatherings. You all did so much for her all the time and she appreciated it. You were a big part of our conversations when we spoke. What an honor to have known Edna. She was quite the woman loved by all.

Edna knew my mother since 1937 and they remained friends on and off till my Mother passed in 2020. I like to think that my Mom and her are having great conversations now together.
