Edna "Marie" Mills Whidden, 89
Edna "Marie" Mills Whidden died May 19, 2025. She was born on June 20, 1935 in Castor, Louisianna. She was a resident of Okeechobee for 30 years, she enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, and golf. She spent almost 74 years with her soulmate, Marion Whidden. Most of her life was spent in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Mrs. Whidden was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Eugene Mills and Edna Friday Mills; son, Charles W. Whidden; and brother, Carl Wayne Mills.
Mrs. Whidden is survived by her husband of 74 years, Marion H. Whidden; children, Wanda W. Weiland (Ted), Thomas Eugene Whidden (Cathy), and Sandra W. Johnson (Mark); daughter-in-law, Valerie Whidden; grandchildren, Jennifer Young, Chad Whidden, Clint Whidden, Kevin Johnson, John Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Corey Whidden, Jonas, Whidden, Nate Whidden, Heather Mintz, and Kelly Sanchez; 22 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a Hospice of your choice.
