Edward Aker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Inc. on Aug. 14, 2024.
Edward W. Aker Jr, 74, of Highlands, NJ, passed away on August 11, 2024 in Red Bank, NJ. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1950 to Edward and Helen Aker. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Evelyn Aker, daughter, Katie Aker, and cats, Ivy and Grace.
Edward joined the U.S. Army after graduating high school. He proudly served his country in Vietnam in the combat infantry as part of the 9th Division (4th/47th & 5th/60th), earning the rank of sergeant.
After his service, Edward was a part of the trucking industry for over 30 years, first as a truck driver and then dispatcher. It was at work where he met the love of his life, Evelyn. The two would marry on Valentine's Day in 1985, and later make a home on the Jersey Shore with their daughter, Katie.
After his career, Edward enjoyed relaxing with family, watching the garden grow, and following his favorite sports teams.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Edward's name to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
