Edward Blanks Obituary
Mr. Blanks passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Russell Medical Center. He was born on August 5, 1950 in Alexander City to Daniel Malvin Blanks and Jerrylene Fetner Blanks. Eddie was a 1968 graduate of Benjamin Russell High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving our country during the Vietnam War. After his service, he graduated from Auburn University in 1975. Eddie enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing golf with his friends. He loved his family above all else and enjoyed researching his family's ancestry. Eddie enjoyed umpiring his daughters' and other youth softball games. He was a scout master for Boy Scouts in Alexander City. Eddie enjoyed traveling, especially to many national parks around the nation. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Blanks of Alexander City; daughters, Kate Blanks Fischer (Todd) of Park City, UT, and Betsy Blanks Atkins (Ryan) of Hot Springs, AR; step-son, Christopher Eric Vinson (Brooke) of Birmingham; grandchildren, William Edward Atkins, Thomas Daniel Atkins, Davis Vinson, and Casey Vinson; brothers, Danny Blanks (Angie) of Milton, FL, David Blanks of Montgomery, and Jonathan Blanks of Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tim Blanks.
