Edward Bramble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. - Hopewell Junction on Dec. 12, 2025.
Edward L. Bramble, 87, a resident of East Fishkill for 15 years and formerly of Mount Kisco, died on December 9, 2025 at his home. Born in White Plains on September 20, 1938, he was the son of the late Lucien and Elsie (Brendel) Bramble.

He grew up in an idyllic time with boyhood pals and pets exploring the fens and forests of Ardsley, New York. Ed was a 1957 graduate of Ardsley High School. He attributed his love of nature and American History to the field trips organized by his principal, Arthur W. Silliman.

He received his Bachelor's Degree in Aquatic Horticulture from Long Island University. His first job was with Lingg's Aquatic Gardens of Ardsley. The owners took him under their wing. A seed of desire to create his own business empire was planted and grew into pet shops in Eastchester, Bedford Hills and Mount Kisco.

Later, he apprenticed with a friend's crew to hang paper and paint homes in Northern Westchester. Homeowners, friends and family trusted and hired him to paint their summer homes in the Berkshires, on Cape Cod, and on Martha's Vineyard. One September morning he was invited inside to watch a national tragedy on TV. Once, a matriarch asked him to check the heating and water in her house when she was away for the winter. One young mother sent him home from work when she recognized signs of heart fatigue.

A supporter of the Nature Conservancy and the Adirondack Mountain Club, he enjoyed fly fishing and led many camping, hiking, and canoeing trips. Ed and his wife, Sara Rodgers Bramble, were married in their home and have enjoyed three decades of adventures to such places as Acadia, Key West, the Cascades and Big Sur. Ed was an avid gardener. Neighbors, even master gardeners turned to him for advice.

Ed is survived by his wife, Sara. He is also survived by his children, Cary Bramble, Terry Bramble, Marta Renee Arthur and her husband Dewayne Arthur, and Robin Bramble, all of Florida; his grandchildren, Marta Kuri-Ann Waters, Elizabeth Nicole Arthur and Dakota Wayne Arthur and his great-grandchildren, Brentlee Rhyder, Leila Nicole, and Marta Morrine; and his sister, Florence Vannoni, her husband Adrio, and their children, Brian Vannoni and Linda Vannoni.

Please consider making a donation in his name to the Adirondack Mountain Club (adk.org) to support their mission. Donate online at ADK.org/donate, or by mail at: Adirondack Mountain Club, 494 Maple Ave, Suite 1, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
