A lifelong resident of Maynard, he was the son of the late Fred and Susan Brooks. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Brooks settled in Maynard to raise their family. They owned and operated Brooks Paint and Supply in West Concord, for over 25 years before retiring. Mr. Brooks served in the Navy during the Korean war, was an active member and former officer of the Maynard Lodge of Elks for over 54 years. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry, traveling, helping his sons with their many home renovation projects, and spending time with family and friends at their home in York Beach, Maine.
He is survived by this three sons, Gary and Wife Denise of Punta Gorda, Florida, Kevin and wife Christine of Hudson, Edward J. Brooks Jr. of Dorchester: three sisters Mary Ann Brooks, Cecile Hayes, Arlene Corriveau, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by one brother, Joseph Brooks, and one sister Rose Medeirous.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours Wednesday, October 16h from 4:00 - 7:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral will also be held at the Acton Funeral Home on Thursday, October 17th at 10:00 AM.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association.

Nuchie will be so missed. He always had a smile on his face and his stories were so funny. He truly was the mayor of Maynard. Rest in peace Nuchie and our condolences to the Brooks family.
