Mr. Edward Allen "Ed" Cain, 76, died Wednesday morning (July 27, 2022) at his residence in Waycross.
A native of Aiken, SC, Ed graduated from Georgia Tech as an electrical engineer. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany in 1968. Ed had a very accomplished career with the United States Government. He was employed as a chief information systems analyst for DISA which contracted with the Department of Defense. Ed served as an ambassador to NATO, and he helped write protocol for the development of the internet. He was a member of Galilee United Methodist Church and he sang with the Barber Shop Quartet.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Briggs Cain and Nell Lybrand Cain; his wife, Jennifer "Jenny" Miles Cain; and son, Ed Cain, Jr.
Survivors include his children, Michael Briggs Cain (Tamara) of Brunswick, Gabriel Lee Cain of Clayton, NC, and Mary Catherine Ries (Wayne Heyer) of Harper's Ferry, WV; grandchildren, Madeline Cain, Aaron Cain, Allie Shull, Ami Cain, McKenna Cain, Taylor Cain, Sydney Cain and Jessica Ries; great grandchildren, Wyatt Dale Cain, Major Young, Millyana Young, Vincent Reza, Kinsley Shull and Charis Shull; one brother, Harry Cain of Covington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (August 3, 2022) at Music Funeral Home. A time of remembrance will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
