Edward George Councill III

Edward George Councill III, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, in Hospice care, with his family surrounding him.
Mr. Councill was born in Richmond, Virginia on March 26, 1941, to the late Edward and Evelyn Councill. He was co-founder of Canoe Kentucky with his late wife Bess Councill. Ed loved the outdoors and sharing it with anyone who would dare for new adventures. He also was passionate about our town and adored the Kentucky River, the Elkhorn Creek and especially the Peaks Mill Community. During retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and helping others especially getting kids outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Corey Councill (Amy Councill), grandson, Charles; daughter, Allison Councill Depenbrock (Nathan Depenbrock), grandsons, Boone and Dane, granddaughter, Isla; his brother-in- law, Emory Shiver of Alexandria, VA.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bess Councill, for 57 years, Joyce Reid, sister, and David Councill, grandson.
Ed's life will be celebrated in beautiful Peaks Mill on the banks of the Elkhorn Creek, where he loved living for 44 years. This Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 2:00 pm at 7265 Peaks Mill Road.. Everyone who loved Ed is welcome to attend and share in his life.
