Bess Shiver Councill

Frankfort - Bess Shiver Councill, age 82, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Hospice care, after a short battle with a brain tumor known as Glioblastoma.
Mrs. Councill was born in Charleston, South Carolina on January 21, 1941, to the late Emory and Fannie Shiver. She retired from Lloyd's of London as an Administrative Assistant and was co-founder of Canoe Kentucky. After her retirement she volunteered teaching people to read at Thorn Hill Learning Center, and lovingly devoted her time to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ed Councill; son, Corey Councill (Amy Councill), grandson, Charles; daughter, Allison Councill Depenbrock (Nathan Depenbrock), grandsons, Boone and Dane, granddaughter, Isla; her brother, Emory Shiver of Alexandria, VA.
She was preceded in death by Joyce Reid, sister-in-law, and David Councill, grandson.
Bess' life will be celebrated in beautiful Peaks Mill on the banks of the Elkhorn Creek, where she loved living for 44 years. This Celebration of Life will be Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 2:00 pm. At 7265 Peaks Mill Road, Frankfort. Everyone who loved Bess is welcome to attend and share in her life.
