Edward B DeLeo

Edward DeLeo, a longtime resident of Kinnelon, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, at the age of 100. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Edward was one of three children born to Joseph and Louise DeLeo.
A proud graduate of Manhattan College and a US Navy veteran, Edward's life was marked by hard work and leadership. In 1962, he founded DeLeo Textiles, a company that grew from his determination and unique approach to business. Known for thinking outside the box and often doing things the "Ed way," his unconventional methods led him to great success. His talent for sales, natural leadership, and commitment to his work earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. He enjoyed traveling and never missed an opportunity to be in front of people and form connections.
Edward was a man who valued family above all else, living by the family motto: "rely on the lion." He instilled in his children the importance of hard work and ensured they were set up for success in their own lives.
A man of discipline, Edward took great pride in his appearance, dressing impeccably, and maintaining a strong commitment to exercise, which kept him active and energetic throughout his life. Beyond his professional life, Ed was a lover of fine cuisine, and he often reminisced about winning a jitterbug contest in college, a reflection of his love for dancing. His extensive art collection was a testament to his appreciation for culture and beauty. Beneath his tough exterior, Ed had a kind heart and was often misunderstood, yet his caring nature and generous spirit were known to those closest to him.
Ed is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia; his children, Craig DeLeo and his wife Kristen, Drew DeLeo and his wife Maria, and Jeff DeLeo and his wife Kirsten; and his grandchildren, CJ, Nadia and Jonah. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Jr.; and his sister, Grace.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 pm on Friday, April 11 at Scanlan's, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Saturday at Our Lady of Magnificat Chapel (across the street from the main church). Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
