Edward Anthony Dziuba March 21, 1940-May 9, 2025
On March 21, 1940, Mary and Alphonse Dziuba welcomed their 1st and only son into the world in Gary, Indiana. Eddie, as he was fondly called by his large, extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, grew up surrounded by a loving and zany family. Ed attended Holy Angels Catholic School, became an altar boy and was asked to serve the 6:00am Mass at the neighboring hospital. He said God would always watch out for "His Eddie" because of this service as an altar boy. Key remembrances of his childhood included scouting activities, fishing trips to Indiana Dunes Park with his Dad, fun filled Polish weddings attended by all ages, and playing with many childhood friends from diverse ethnic backgrounds in a steel town full of hard working immigrants. After graduating from High School in 1957, he went on to Drake University for his BA in economics and a minor in partying, then to the University of Wisconsin for his MBA.
In 1964, he moved to Detroit to begin a job with Ford Motor Steel Division as a cost accountant, trading in his Chevy convertible for a Ford convertible and beginning his lifelong fascination with cars. During this time, Ed volunteered with Junior Achievement as an advisor to achievers, who later won company of the year under his guidance.
A friend introduced Ed to Anne, a student at Mercy College. They found that they shared many common interests including sailing, a love for music and travel, and they married in 1966. Shortly after Ed volunteered to be the treasurer of the Detroit Sparks Wheelchair Basketball team and cheered them on through several seasons.
Ed decided on a career change, joined Bache and Co. in January 1968, and traveled to New York City to become a registered stockbroker. He completed his training, returned to Michigan in June, just in time for the birth of his first son, Timothy "Ted", followed by Mark and later Jeff.
In 1977, Ed continued his volunteer activities, joining the Lightning Fleet at Pontiac Yacht Club on Cass Lake. He enjoyed sailing on Wednesdays and Sundays, garnered some trophies and became Commodore in 1983. Later, he assumed the role of President of the Pontiac Sailing Education Foundation, as it provided sailing instruction for young people during the summer months.
During his long and successful, professional career, Ed worked for First of Michigan Corp and then Baird as a stockbroker and branch manager. He and Anne enjoyed many company trips traveling to the Hawaiian Islands, European countries and Vatican City. Ed and Anne also managed to travel to 19 National Parks as part of their bucket list.
Ed lived a blessed and rewarding life, enjoying his loving family, faithful friends, and diligently serving his clients. He is survived by his wife Anne of 59 years, his sons Timothy (Julie), Mark (Melissa), and Jeff (Christy), grandchildren, Caitlyn, Isabel, and Anthony. He is also survived by many loving cousins and two grand dogs, Jameson and Max.
Ed was one of those people that God puts into our lives for the purpose of strengthening us, encouraging our dreams, sharing wisdom, laughter, and understanding. He was that companion on the journey of life, who helps us grow, become who we are, and who we're meant to be.
