EDWARD LEWIS FORMAN
October 25, 1937 to December 1, 2025
Edward ("Eddie"), age 88, was born in
Toledo, Ohio to chemical salesman Victor B. Forman and Sylvia Friedman Forman. Rather than complete the fourth year of high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1955 and served three years active duty in North Carolina as an aircraft engine mechanic. He earned his GED, was promoted to the rank of Corporal, and was awarded a Good Conduct Medal before joining the Marine Air Reserves. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1961.
Edward was working as a beverage sales representative when he met his beloved, Doris Louise Bailey Muck ("Louise"), and they were married at Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Toledo on October 3, 1964. Life changes brought them to the Detroit area, and Edward completed some college coursework to advance in his career. The couple enjoyed 52 years together as husband and wife before Louise was taken by a debilitating illness in 2017.
Edward's Christian faith was very important to him, and he remained active at SALt, the little church in Troy his wife had selected as their spiritual home. He attended every weekend, volunteered in various positions, participated in blood drives, supported Vacation Bible School, contributed to the organ improvement fund, went to the weekly Men's Breakfast, and organized the weekly church pinochle club, just to name a few of his endeavors there.
Edward also enjoyed other interests such as karate, reading, and watching movies. He was actively involved with the Troy Public Library, Friends of Troy Seniors, and the Troy Community Center, especially its Pinochle Club.
Edward's sense of humor, his staunch support of the Ohio State University Buckeyes, and his delight in finding hidden candy or cookie treats wherever he could will be sorely missed by those who loved him. Semper fi, Eddie!
There will be a memorial service to honor his life and eternal victory in Christ over death on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11 am at SALT Church (St. Augustine Lutheran), 5475 Livernois,
Troy, MI 48098.
In lieu of flowers, Edward declared a preference to be remembered by donations to the
Alzheimer's Association, the
American Heart Association, the
American Lung Association, or the Michigan Humane Society.
