Edward Lee Gholson, 82, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024 at Atrium Health, Lincolnton, with his loving family by his side. 

He was born in Gaston County on September 17, 1942 to the late Willie Briggs Gholson and Ruby Elizabeth Guthrie Gholson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his children, Gary Lee Gholson and Peggy Darlene Gholson, his siblings, James, Earl, Bill, David, Pat Price, June Tucker and Carolyn Moller.

He was a member of Hardin Community Baptist Church. He loved to sing and when he was able, he sung for many years with Saved By Grace. His singing expressed his passion for praising the Lord. He loved his family and everyone he met. Ed was a kind man that never turned anyone away and always showed love for those around him. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and Tarheel ball. He especially loved spending time with his girls. Ed retired from Ed Gholson Printing.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ruby Jones Gholson; his loving daughter, Kim Livingston and husband David R. Livingston, Jr. and their girls, Lauren and Erin Livingston, Hannah Meadows and husband Trent; brother, Charlie Gholson and wife Wanda, sisters-in-law, Gloria Gholson  and Marlene Friday and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Hardin Community Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church with Pastor Justin Driver and Pastor David R. Livingston, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Abernathy, Bob Abernathy, Randy Summey, Dave Summey, Doug Gholson, Jr., Ronnie Moore, and Arnold Propst.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hardin Community Church Building Fund, 548 Hardin Road, Dallas, NC 28034.
